Professional biography

Summary of professional experience
I have 45 years experience in perioperative nursing and 26 years experience as a unit manager. I am an active member of the Australian College of Perioperative Nurses (ACORN) & the Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia (GENCA). I have qualifications in sterilising services and perioperative nursing and currently manage an integrated perioperative unit that includes Preadmission Clinic, Operating Theatre, Day Surgery, Endoscopy and Sterilising.
I completed Sentinel Event Management and RCA training when working in Queensland.
Summary of incident review experience
I have been a root cause analysis (RCA) team leader for two sentinel events and team member for another in Victoria. I was also team leader for two RCAs in Queensland.
I regularly participate in in-depth case reviews and have conducted patient safety reviews for numerous hospitals in Victoria and interstate.
