Professional biography

Summary of professional experience
I have over 15 years of experience in senior health roles across Australia and Internationally. My focus has been quality management including quality improvement, stakeholder engagement and research into systems based improvements.

I am passionate about improving systems as a way of creating better outcomes for clients, employees and the organisation overall.

As a researcher I have explored topics like mitigation strategies for occupational violence and the role of gender in leadership style and team dynamics..

As a senior health executive I have been employed as a Director of Nursing in Victoria, District Director of Nursing across QLD & SA.
Currently I am the National Quality & Safeguarding Manager for genU (over 50 sites and 3500 disability clients), Quality Manager for Wyndham Clinic (Mental Health and DSU) and also a non-executive Director in the Aged Care sector. These roles provide me with a range and depth of experience across different sectors.
Summary of incident review experience
All of my previous leadership roles have included incident review as a component of my day to day business.

Most recently my roles involve coordinating RCA investigation into all externally reportable incidents at genU. Reporting to the Medical Advisory Committee & Board on trends and serious incidents. Using techniques like open disclosure and engaging with stakeholders.

As a Expedition Leader in Antarctica, I was responsible for leading an investigation into the grounding of resupply ship Aurora Australis. This investigation was in conjunction with AMSA, which was a different experience and provide insight into how other industries conduct RCA.

As a District DON for the Torres Straits region I was a member of the incident review panel examining issues like the cross border treatment of PNG Nationals with medication resistant Tb. We also looked at incidents related to misuse and / or loss of schedule 8 drugs, allegations of bullying and other team conflict situations.
