Professional biography

Summary of professional experience
I have been a nurse since 2005 when I commenced my graduate year at Numurkah District Health Service (NDHS). I have since worked in many roles including Day procedure Unit, ANUM, and ADON.

In November 2015 I commenced the position of Nurse Unit Manager of our Acute ward and UCC.
My responsibilities include:
- running the UCC and Acute ward
- managing staff: including staff performance, mentoring, disciplinary procedures, recruitment, rosters, staff meetings
- managing bed availability
- managing budgets
- guideline and policy developing and updating
- developing new forms
- audits for Acute ward and UCC
- clinical Reviews
- quality improvement activities
-patient care including general nursing care, cardiac monitoring, assessment patients for clinical deterioration, pathology collection.
Summary of incident review experience
At Numurkah District Health Service we routinely conduct clinical reviews on all patients that fit into the following categories:
- category 1/2 transfers from UCC
- transfers from the Acute ward
- any patient involved in a code (Code Grey/ Code Blue)
- any patient that highlights a concern from Medical and/or nursing staff.
This process identifies if further review is required.

I have been a RCA team member for two reviews. Cases are also discussed at the Clinical Morbidity and Mortality meeting held monthly at NDHS.

2008 = Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) position, working up to Associate Director of Nursing (ADON) as needed
2009 - 2012 = Day Procedure Unit: Preadmission clinic, post op care of patients.
2012 - 2015 ANUM in Temporary Urgent Care Centre post Flooding in Numurkah
2015: ANUM in new Hospital post floods. Acting Nurse Unit Manager when needed.
2015 - Ongoing: Nurse Unit Manager position from Nov 2015.
