Thank you to all health services who have provided input so far into the VHIMS reform program.
Your contribution has been vital as we work toward assisting health services to select an incident management system provider before formal reporting to VAHI via the new VHIMS Minimum Dataset (MDS) begins in June next year.
Health services can choose from the following options:
- joining the 39 health services currently using the new VHIMS Central Solution (VHIMS CS)
- using the statewide tender panel for a modified version of VHIMS CS
- continuing to use their current vendor
- negotiating with a vendor for their own bespoke platform.
The statewide tender to support options one and two closed in early February. VAHI is now working with the Department of Health and Human Services to assess submitted responses.
Arrangements for option one are expected to be complete by April, while panel arrangements for option two will be finalised in June.
Only options one and two will be available through the statewide tender arrangements. Victorian public health services that choose options three or four will be responsible for their own arrangements.
VAHI will continue to keep health services informed of developments – including a proposed information session to be held later this year - via quality and safety delegates, the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Forum and also here at VAHI News.
