A message from Alan Eade, Chief Paramedic Officer, Safer Care Victoria.
To all paramedics working across Victoria
It is rare in our profession that we take the time to stop and reflect on the work that we do and the impact that we have on the health of our communities.
‘Thank a paramedic day’ allows us the time and space to recognise the vital role that paramedics play in our health system. Every day, you, the paramedics of Victoria, are out among our communities providing exceptional patient care.
2018 is a milestone year for our profession as we become a registered and regulated profession under the National Law. This means the title ‘paramedic’ becomes protected, recognising the professionalism, training and knowledge required to serve our communities in the practice as a paramedic. This is a historic event for all paramedics across Australia and it fantastic to see our profession recognised alongside other health disciplines.
I am proud to be a paramedic in Victoria. I am equally proud of the manner in which paramedics go about their service to the community, especially the care, comfort, and compassion that we extend to patients and those close to them.
Once again, I want to thank each and every paramedic in our health system. The work you do and the difference that you make to the lives of Victorians is nothing short of outstanding.
