Are you interested in developing evidence based paediatric clinical practice guidelines? Safer Care Victoria’s Paediatric Clinical Network is looking for nursing representatives to join its subcommittee and support best practice care.

About the subcommittee

The Evidence based care and HealthPathways subcommittee works with the Paediatric Clinical Network to support evidence-based best practice paediatric care.

The subcommittee develops clinical practice guidelines for Victorian health services in partnership with the Royal Children’s Hospital. In addition, it translates existing statewide paediatric clinical guidelines into general practitioner focused guidelines through the statewide HealthPathways project. To date the focus of this work has been on high volume, low complexity conditions.

Who are we looking for?

We’re currently looking for a senior paediatric nurse (nurse practitioner, nurse unit manager, associate nurse unit manager or paediatric educator) who is:

  • dynamic and collaborative with an interest in improving the quality and safety of care across paediatric services in Victoria
  • a strategic thinker with an interest and skills in improvement science
  • experienced in developing and applying best practice evaluation methodology.

What’s involved?

By joining the subcommittee, you will help reduce unwarranted variation in paediatric clinical practice through:

  • developing and monitoring statewide clinical practice guidelines
  • promoting best practice evidence-based care
  • deciding on which existing topics should be adapted as statewide guidelines
  • designing and implementing the network’s clinical practice improvement initiatives
  • reviewing findings and implementing changes to the clinical practice guidelines.

Subcommittee members will be expected to participate in meetings and other activities.
