Applications are now open to join the Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board and help oversee the safe operation of the new law.
Members will have a broad range of experience and backgrounds to help provide clinical guidance, quality and safety advice and consumer perspectives on voluntary assisted dying.
While voluntary assisted dying won’t be introduced until June 2019, the Board will use the next 12 months to:
- develop a clear system of oversight, outlining how cases will be reviewed and any issues referred
- develop procedures for mandatory reporting by health practitioners
- consult with key clinical, consumer and professional groups to develop information guidelines, protocols and training.
