The first meeting of the Health Classifications Advisory Group was held on 28 June 2018. The Group, coordinated by VAHI, was formed to strengthen relationships between the Department of Health and Human Services (the Department) and health services relating to health classification information. The Group will help improve information sharing, and provide a feedback mechanism to both VAHI and the Department on how we can better understand shifts in the coded data, and strategies to prevent instability in the WIES funding model.
The Group will advise VAHI, the Department and Safer Care Victoria on the interpretation of health classifications used in clinical reporting and funding model development. This will help ensure that the coded data that underpins certain clinical performance reports and the AR-DRG classification are accurate and representative of the clinical truth as it applies to individual patients. There is also scope for the Group to review the impact of admission policy changes on admitted data and to discuss costing related issues.
The Group is chaired by VAHI’s Director of Information Management and Standards, Mark Gill. External representation includes coding staff and executives of public health services.
