This is the first in a series of workshops designed to build your knowledge and skills in reviewing adverse patient events. This is a pre-requisite to future workshops which focus on review methods to better prepare you to undertake incident reviews.
Fundamentals of Incident Review is a one-day workshop for health service workers (including consumer representatives) to provide them with essential knowledge needed prior to participate in reviewing a sentinel or serious adverse event.
The workshop covers:
- Defining adverse events
- Categories of adverse events
- Sentinel event program and reporting
- Adverse event management and review process
- Consumer perspective
- Introduction to Human factors and systems thinking in adverse event reviews
There are no pre-requisites for this workshop.
If you have attended our Incident Review workshop in the past three years, you won't need to attend this course.
Registration for this workshop is via Expression of Interest process. We will prioritise participants according to need. We will email you the outcome of this process. If you are allocated a place, we will send you an email with pre-reading materials and other information prior to the workshop.
Please note that this workshop is a prerequisite for all new workshops related to review methods (RCA2, London Protocol, AcciMap) unless you attended our Incident Review workshop in the last 3 years.
There is no charge for attending this workshop.
However cancellation with less than three working days’ notice or failure to attend on the day will incur a fee of $385 that will be invoiced to your health service.
