The Stroke Clinical Network is hosting a webinar to provide an overview of the statewide Endovascular Clot Retrieval protocol.
The protocol was developed in 2016 to guide clinical practice and is based on five landmark studies on the innovative treatment of stroke. The protocol aims to support the referral process and improve access to this evidence based treatment.
This webinar will explore the Victorian response to this intervention including:
- an overview of the evidence including outcomes of the recently published DAWN and Defuse trials
- statewide protocol: does it work?
Associate Professor Peter Hand is the clinical lead for the Stroke Clincal Network. Assoc Prof Hand has been a stroke neurologist since 2002. He first trained to become a specialist in neurology at the Alfred Hospital and the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, United Kingdom, and undertook research in acute stroke at the University of Edinburgh.
Assoc Prof Hand has held roles as Honorary Secretary of ANZAN (Australia & New Zealand Association of Neurologists), Chair of the Education and Training committee of ANZAN, member of the RACP Overseas Trained Physicians Committee and member of the Neurology Expert Group for Therapeutic Guidelines. He recently commenced a Stroke Neurologist role at the Alfred Hospital.
