The Care of Older People Clinical Network works with clinicians to improve the quality of care and patient experiences for all older Victorians. The network hosted its inaugural strategic planning day in November 2017.
Over 100 clinicians participated in setting the strategic direction for the network over the next three years.
Preventing functional decline of inpatients is a priority improvement area identified by the sector.
To address this problem, the successful NHS patient and clinician engagement model ‘End PJ Paralysis’ is being adapted to the Victorian context. This model reduces functional decline by encouraging patients to wear everyday clothes and to mobilise every day. Redefining the ‘sick role’ empowers patients to become active in their healthcare journey and recovery.
Our statewide collaborative will:
- decrease functional decline in hospital
- engage consumers in their recovery
- engage our workforce
- decrease barriers to maintaining function in hospital.
In workshop one, you will learn about the data to be collected, the tools available and techniques to implement the project.
Please contact us should you wish to be part of the collaborative.
